In the Beginning was the Word....

And so it is written in the Bible.  What do fellow getbiggers make of this mysterious pronouncement?

What hidden power lies dormant in words I wonder ????

The Most High, (God, to you people) spoke everything into existence. 
Can you imagine the power of a being that can speak the universe into existence. 

I'd have a healthy fear and would want to obey.  ;)

Oh that's nothing, my dad with his final almighty thrust let out a powerful self satisfied guttural groan and wham, I existed.  Didn't even have to say a word, just weird noises.  Life is strange eh?

What do you mean what hidden power? Do words not cause wars? Love? Hate? Happiness?  This power is not hidden.

Only fools believe that the power of words is not hidden.  This is a pivotal and often overlooked passage of the bible.  It carries far more weight than meets the eye.  Think beyond the words themselves, think - what IS a WORD?

Yeah, guided the boat that is humanity right into an iceberg, THANKS GOD, but we could have done without the help. I know, I know, I shouldn't be too hard considering God's good intentions and all.

I didn't blame god YOU DID REMEMBER, What else could this mean: "The word of God. The Bible, divinely inspired. Has guided the course of man for at least the last 2000 years."

Well then if GOD has guided man to where we are now, I am just saying he did a pretty shitty job for an all powerful divine being, that's all.

That's the bit I don't get, why did God wait so long only to eventually reveal himself to a bunch of illiterate camel jockeys.  You think after creating creation he would have been pretty pleased with himself and would have wanted to introduce (and show off) his new toys immediately and not wait as he did.
