Is this how to respond?

http://clashdaily.com/2017/09/watch-girl-plows-teacher-right-kisser-teachers-response-weird/

Just the clip

Like the article reads, it is school policy. The attacker may have a mental disorder. Kids with all kinds of issues go to public schools. Some of these kids are so bad off that they have one on one assistants with them the entire day. It's not uncommon for school personnel to be injured by students.

Dealing with Violent Behavior

In case of assault, ensuring the safety of others

Try to avoid responding physically
If you have to respond physically to defend yourself or others, you should use reasonable force given the student’s age, size, and ability to inflict injury.
Be sure the situation is stable and that a qualified individual assumes supervisory responsibility for your students.
Contact the school nurse
Immediately identify and record the names, addresses, and phone numbers of all witnesses, location, time of incident, and the facts surrounding the teacher.

In case of assault with personal injury

Call the appropriate association and request assistance
Immediately report the incident to the school administration
Ask for medical diagnosis and treatment
Request that the association assist you in obtaining immediate sick leave and go immediately to your doctor
The doctor should know and understand that this is important evidence.
Color photos of the injury should be taken.

mental issues or not you are allowed to stop yourself from further harm.

This type of reaction just gives the children free rein to attack and even kill a teacher.

Regardless of the school rules you have a legal right to defend yourself from an attacker and as such even if the school took disciplinary action the law is on your side and you would win a tribunal and get compensation.

Your comments are right on.

Here is an excellent paper written by Perris E. Nelson. Student-on-Teacher Violence: A proposed solution
http://digitalcommons.law.byu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1389&context=elj

In it, Perris explores why teachers are hesitant to defend themselves when attacked by a student. In conclusion, he offers a solution and presents rationale to support it.

not clicking it either.  They should incarcerate these felons in slave labor camps until they prove their ability to benefit society.

No idea why this Doug Giles thought the blonde was a teacher. "I'll fight you after school" and "I am not getting suspended like (?) you" aren't things you often hear from a teacher.

Also, that first punch was painfully loud.

Hmm, I wondered if this wasn't just a "girl fight".

Must be frustrating to have someone allow you to unload on them with punches, only to have it not affect them one bit.
