Is he right?

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) accused news outlets of covering up what he described as violent tendencies among Democrats.

“Here’s the simple and undeniable fact. The overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats,” Cruz told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. “The media doesn’t report that.”

Cruz did not cite any data to back up his accusation, instead repeating the conservative talking point criticizing President Barack Obama for nominating attorney Debo Adegbile last year to lead the Justice Department’s civil rights division because Adebbile represented Mumia Abu-Jamal while working for the NAACP in 1981. Adegbile’s nomination was blocked.

Hewitt made reference to Saturday’s terrorist attack against a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado by noting his own opposition to reproductive rights over the past 25 years.

Red States Have Higher Crime Rates Than Blue States

A Smart Politics analysis of the recently released 2008 Uniform Crime Reports finds that red states across the nation have both higher violent and property crime rates than blue states, across several measures of partisanship.

The average violent crime rate (murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault) in 2008 for the 28 states that voted for Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential election was 389 incidents per 100,000 residents. The average violent crime rate for the 22 states that voted for John McCain was 412 incidents per 100,000 residents – or a 5.8 percent higher incidence of violent crime.

For example, 2 of the top 3 states with the highest violent crime rates in the nation in 2008 voted for McCain: South Carolina (#1) and Tennessee (#3). (Nevada was #2).

The difference was even more pronounced for property crimes (burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft). Obama states had an average property crime rate of 2,989 incidents per 100,000 residents, with McCain states averaging a rate of 3,228 – or an 8.0 percent higher incidence of property crime.

Eight of the top 11 states with the highest property crime rates voted for McCain: Arizona (#1), South Carolina (#2), Alabama (#4), Tennessee (#6), Georgia (#7), Texas (#8), Arkansas (#10), and Louisiana (#11).

“Every time you have some sort of violent crime or mass killing you can almost see the media salivating. Hoping, hoping desperately that the murderer happens to be a Republican so they can use it to try to paint their political enemies.”...... “the simple and undeniable fact is the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats.” - Ted Cruz

They may not be voters but they sure as hell are the dem demographic.....84 people shot in chicago over the weekend with 15 deaths....Texas is a red state but shitholes like Houston and Dallas have high murder rates...urban centers full of dem demographics are always going to have higher crime.

That all may or may not be true, but statements like that don't win him the swing voters in a general election.  It only stereotypes him in those voters eyes as another angry conservative who only attacks and complains like a little bitch instead of showing real leadership.

CRUZ=another turd

yeah, but at this point, Trump is doubling or even TRIPLING everyone else in polls.   Trump leading Iowa by 7.  Scary.

Cruz has a few weeks left to take down monster Trump, looking less and less likely every day.

Exactly.

The last time Houston had a republican mayor was close to 35 years ago.
