Bench Press/Hack Squat machine alternating sets
« on: December 26, 2015, 09:42:45 AM »
Saw a guy in the gym doing this as his workout, moving back and forth between the bench and hack squat machine.  Lots of time between sets.  Older dude anywhere from 40 to 55.

Normally I'd think anyone doing this was a moron, but this guy was in decent shape and fairly strong for his size and age.  I happen to be a follower of the Franco Columbu school of thought:  "if it works, it works no matter what anyone says."  But still alternating between bench and hacks?

I do a lot of circuit work but still stick with push/pull/legs.

I'm on the higher end of the age range you listed and legs have held.  Whatever works I suppose.

This wasn't a circuit, it was only two exercises slowly alternating.  Is this a thing?

Could be a way of saving time? Instead of multiple sets of benches with two mins rest could be doing alternating sets with a minute between each? This doing twice the work in the same time?

Yeah. Odd combination, but at that age he may only be hitting the gym once a week? The fact he's doing legs is aces. Most guys my age have given it up years ago.

Thank you I appreciate the feedback.  Not huge but well conditioned from tons of reps.
