For anyone not familiar with it, ego depletion is the theory that will power is finite and human beings can only will themselves to take on so much mentally before there is notable deterioration in their resolve. If you haven't heard of ego depletion, you've probably heard of the cookie test, which was the experiment/study that took the concept mainstream.
It was pretty accepted among the psychological community for a long time, but there were skeptics. A major study is going to be released soon that casts doubt on a lot of the commonly believed science behind ego depletion and concludes there's no reason to believe it exists.
This has been one of my favorite psychological theories since I came across it about 10-15 years ago, mainly because it seemed so simple and logical. I have incorporated the idea into my life and it has def helped me. (I have no plans to stop, even if science does not back it up) What do you think? Sound like complete bullshit to you?
