Opening the door to plug in Paul Ryan, Romney, Clint Eastwood, or anyone else they want... despite this person not getting a single vote!

RNC chairman Reince Priebus joined George Stephanopoulos on ABC's This Week to discuss violence at Donald Trump's rallies and this summer's Republican National Convention.

Asked whether the idea of a contested convention was still "an extreme hypothetical," Priebus explained:

Uh -- uh probably not still the case, no. I think it's possible. We're preparing for the possibility. I think it's my job is to be as open and transparent as I possibly can be. Why I'm trying to get out there on the convention a lot, out in the media. Talk about the rules. What they are, what they're not. Take the mystery away from what an open convention looks like. It's simple stuff.

After confirming to Priebus that the RNC would insist on following the rules and ensuring whomever is nominated achieved the requisite number of delegates, Stephanopoulos asked: "Can you guarantee that the nominee would be one of the three in the race right now?"

Priebus responded: "Well, I mean, I think it would be highly unlikely if it's not, um, I can tell you that. I think it would be somewhat, very unusual. But I can't 100% guarantee that. I can't imagine right now sitting here, believing it would be anyone but the three remaining candidates."
