I've talked to a number of people, including recently, who contend the rise of Radical Islam and terrorist attacks against the U.S. in general are a result of blowback based on our policies, presence in the Middle East, etc. 

I think that is wrong, but what is the explanation for terrorist attacks in Europe, where they have opened their borders, coddled, etc.?

More of a rhetorical question, because there is no logic behind, or justification for, terrorism, but ISIS did apparently just "declare war on Europe."

This is a fight that's been coming to us for a long time.  While I'm sure we have pissed them off over the years that doesn't have much, if anything, to do with this.

Thing is "they" don't really have to fire a single shot as the Europeans are gleefully committing national and cultural suicide.

...I agree but maybe somebody ought to just remind our muslim friends that while recent history with the euro's is all hugs and unicorns, these folks have a long goddam history of genocide on scale that would have Genghis Khan cheering. Maybe this shit will snap em out of it before they finish committing suicide.

It seems that truly, you have to look at the totality of the terrorism and truly, while I wish it were not the case, it seems that in the past 20 years, it's all the same group.

Also, I agree that certainly being "nice" doesn't seem to stop the destruction.

Even the IRA has stopped their shenanigans and slid away not wanting to be associated with the kind of things that are being done.

My real question is this.

What do we do?

For instance, I am all for immigration, but obviously you can't just deny people based on religious beliefs. So where is the line? How do you take out terrorists who happen to be muslim, without creating more terrorists.

Let's be honest, we aren't going to wipe out an entire religion, and I wouldn't like to do that anyway, but if it comes down to "us" or "them", I'm going to choose "us" every time.

So what do you guys think should be done?

I'm personally for backing evil dictators in the region that are more concerned with their own personal power than their religion.
