SOME LIKE IT NOT!
« on: June 19, 2016, 12:01:37 PM »
Like it or not but we are all witnessing (and are a major part of) an historical change within the world of competitive bodybuilding and fitness, and any other event that demands an increase in human strength and stamina.

We are witnessing the biggest change requiring some form of physical exercise since the days when President Kennedy brought the subject up in a short speech long forgotten. (Any help there would be appreciated!)

Here are some of my thoughts regarding the reason these changes are  occurring faster than anytime in the past.

These thoughts are my own and are definitely debatable...

1. The demise of Joe Weider ...... Joe and his brother Ben apparently wished to keep the numboer of IFBB bodybuilding pros at a level which wold be manageable for the annual Mr. Olympia Championships antd it may also be apparent that neither brother had the desire to increase the IFBB membership by adding men's physique, women's bikini, etc., etc.

Things changed when Joe passed away with the introduction of numerous events requiring NPC sanctions and the offering of IFBB pro cards to the winners and runner-ups.

Many fans felt that the increased number of IFBB pros deluted  the prestige of being an IFBB pro.

This increase in IFBB pro membership appears to have been good for one and all except for a good number of competitive bodybuilding fans.

It certainly has been of great financial benefit for the NPC and the IFBB and will continue to be so unless some restrictions are placed on the issuance of the pro cards.

And if the IFBB desires to maintain the high numbers of IFBB pro membership each year, something will have to be done to keep last year's members in the IFBB.

The IFBB will have to offer 'the carrot" simply doe to the fact that many of today's new IFBB pros will be unable to successfully compete against this peers and win some form of financial award in an appropriate pro event.

The above gets a bit complicated .... so I'll end it here.

2. The popularity of ZZXYZ ..... Please excuse me for my improper spelling but I never met nor knew about this world-wide phenomina until the world went crazy when he passed away, but in my humble opinion it seems that he got more individuals involved in 'fitness' than any other earthing of this generation.

3. The internet ..... I'll make this  short and continue later but  ....... Internet sites such as INSTAGRAM have introduced physical fitness to every living skinny kid throughout the world who wants to pick up something heavy that very day.

More to come .......

Not sure how much residual impact Zyzz has. This is a low key Zyzz-revival thread?

Either way, most people who followed Zyzz outgrew the fitness craze, almost assuredly, after this many years. Most do.

I have never heard anything about Aziz besides getbig. The more mainstream he went was by his death by overdose. Forgotten next week.
Like anything in life, IFBB it's about making money, hence the increase in the amount of shows and contestants.

Bodybuilding.......full of narcissistic, drug addicted murdering queers. Brought to us in mass by the weiders , the biggest schmoes in the industry. Now dead the thoughts of the reigns being passed to a certain narcissistic, gay for pay, statutory rape, womanizing, murderer releasing, actor  ,ex governor, sounded appealing. Does not look promising, the down ward spiral of this industry is not surprising given whom runs it and those that compete. Nobody cares.
