Dennis James babbling commentating
« on: September 18, 2016, 06:33:42 AM »
Just watching the finals and listening Dj "try" to explain some of the comments and questions of his co host -

I just noticed inconsistencies is some of his "pro evaluation"

Like the host asked "so how does someone like Roelley get so massive compared to others "- Dj says something to the effect "well it's his diet and training offseason "

Just other weird stuff like calling the Australian comparator a "modern Dorian Yates"

I really chuckled when he commented on the pros going out into the crowd "lots of people going home with tanning and oil solution on their clothes "

Like here -
Instead of highlighting how great levrone looks for one year of training he goes on to speculate his back and legs are not there because of age

Look at this guys upper body and shape conditioning it was impressive

His expertise should of said simply he needed more time to come close to the other guys that are training non stop for decades

I liked his comments. Priest, James, all the pros have said legs to first, back and other parts go because of nerve damage.

Do you think it's nerve damage ?

Or simply since legs and back are biggest muscle groups - as u age natural
Atrophy lower test levels etc - and in Kevin's case just not training the same over a 13 year span of course more time needed to get back and legs back up

Maybe I'm being a little tough on the Dj - but I think all bb from Kevin's era drink the And wish they can look like that at 52

I wish Dj took his shirt off as he was saying he was gonna do during the meeting that wOuld of been funny

He was better than the other guy but his anti Ramy comments were starting to get annoying.

I think the other guy should be BANNED from commenting.  I can't believe he's the editor of Muscle and Fitness/Flex.  He sounded like he didn't know anything.

I think that was on purpose.

So that Dennis could explain in laymans terms for the newer fanbase/audience.

Just like Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan does.

You may be right but do they think that the people watching don't have a clue? Actually I don't think anyone has a clue. I've been around this stuff for over 20 years and I still don't get how it's scored. Last year I felt a little better because the other analysts said the same thing I did.

The commenting towards the women's events was atrocious.

You know...I don't know why I bother at this point, but here's the facts:

They NEVER hire a decent commentator for the Mr O.  Ever.  You're lucky that you had DJ there at all, if not only to correct that dummy who knew next to nothing about the competitors or the sport itself.  Oops, I said sport.

You could have a GREAT commentator team, but they choose not to.  You just need two people who can string together a few sentences, but who actually know what the hell they're talking about.  But, they don't.

Don't matter, not like there was any more public demand anyway.

We'll see what happens next year when CBS airs it.  Or maybe they won't, once the spirit of Mentzer comes back to haunt their corporate asses.

That is all.
