Remember the Dec 21 , 2012 Mayan Calendar doomsday predictions?
« on: November 22, 2016, 01:23:34 PM »
I remember all the fuss and concern over the now infamous Mayan calendar doomsday predictions .
Since the Mayan calendar ended on Dec 21 , 2012, it was assumed that the world would end on that date.
Books were sold , web sites buzzed and they even made a major motion picture on it.

I was with the dumb , naïve crowd , mired down in basic physical sciences.
The geologic evidence clearly showed that a draught caused the decline of the Mayan civilization .
When you're starving with a severe lack of water, keeping up the calendar is going to lose importance.

Of course,  many diehard believers claimed this was mainstream science  trying to hide the real truth.
In their minds , the draught evidence was nothing more then a mainstream media effort to hide things.

Guess what? The world didn't end 4 years ago and the doomsday theory was silly nonsense.

Now we have plenty of people doing the same thing in related topics .
Fake news sites and mainstream news  conspiracy is what many people believe now.

Of course, I'm the silly, naïve one because I still refer to mainstream, referenced sources for my information.
Until the next  doomsday date....take care LOL

In every election various polling models try to handicap the race.
The latest models under-estimated the numbers from rural counties.

But the national polls, showing she'd get more popular votes held true .

No they didn't. It was supposed to be a fucking landslide victory for her. Polls were totally wrong. Actually, totally fraudulent propaganda.

They were off and that's why they are called polls and we don't declare a winner until the election.

They were so fucking off, it was ridiculous. I suspect they knew that Hillary would lose, but faked the polls, to look as though she would win, hoping that using the polls as propaganda, would turn the election in her favor. They failed!

My point is, that the mainstream media and accepted geologic evidence declared the doomsday date as conspiracy  nonsense.  It was. How is this crazy?

Is it just me or did the world NOT end in 2012?

In 1948, Harry S Truman held up the famous headline saying Dewey won.

Polls are just that...polls with a margin of error and based on various models.
The media simply reports what they get for information after it is checked and vetted.
BUT, it's the best we can do in advance of the actual election or game.
People often think the polls are 100% accurate and I never do.

C'mon now, look at the various sports polls and how higher rated teams get beaten every weekend in college football.

Polls were designed to be, and have always been used as propaganda. In the hands of the democrat party, they have only been used to lie, in order to affect election results. It hasn't worked for them, they should have understood that when that dope Jimmy Carter was beaten by Reagan, but they keep trying it anyway.

Huh? Harry Truman was a dem !

Trump often bragged all the time about the polls to promote his candidacy during the primary.

That was a dumb thing to post. Think and report back why a primary would be different then a presidential election.

No, I was simply pointing out that everyone tries to use  poll numbers to their advantage when they show them ahead.
He never complained when they showed him winning.

IN 2004 , the same polls showed Bush had a slight edge over Kerry.
