Fake news across the political spectrum
« on: December 07, 2016, 07:24:48 AM »
No group or political faction is immune to the fake news epidemic spreading like wildfire across the internet and social media.
I'll list some of the best known and feel free to chime in:

* "9/11 attacks were caused by our own GOV" :o

 - GW Bush and/or Dick Cheney and/or the CIA detonated the World Trade centers so they'd collapse. This one was quite popular and despite being a crazy idea, some still think it's a cold, hard, fact. Of course it's never been proven, but that doesn't stop the true believers.

*" Hands up, don't shoot  ???

Ferguson, Ms. - Police officer Darren Wilson shoots and kills Michael Brown.
Pres. Obama's Atty Gen Eric Holder did a full investigation and exonerated officer Darren Wilson.
Despite this  evidence, the black lives matter group and supporters refused to accept the facts.
In every case of a white cop shooting a black person, they always consider it as a murder by white racist cops.
Proof, facts or evidence be damned unless it agrees with their existing belief.

* We faked the moon landings.  ;)

This one is so absurd it's silly. Anyone with a decent grasp of basic physics will laugh at their "proof".
Plus, 100's of NASA staff and every astronaut would need to go along 100%.

* Pres. Obama was born in Kenya and faked his birth cert.  ::)

Beside producing his long form cert at a press club dinner, his birth was listed ( at the time ) in a Hawaii newspaper.
Despite this objective , clear proof, a few diehards still claim he's a Muslim born in Kenya.

* Trump is a racist  :-[

I didn't vote for him, but he's pretty down the middle when it comes to race.
The rumor exists because he's against any racial bias or affirmative action.
Plus, he's for law and order which makes him suspect with the BLM group.
Granted the KKK supported him with some other fringe groups.
But Trump never asked for their vote and they had to vote for someone. WTF.

* Howard is a retarded homo  ;)

He's been married 9 times, so he's not a total homo.
BUT, his meeting the Mayor of BB next to Mirage Ice Machine 7 ,seems legit.
So the jury is still out on his sexuality.

But, since his brain isn't firing on all cylinders , the retard claim may have merit.

* GH-15 was a top bodybuilder with expert drug knowledge living in eastern Europe*

According to his IP address, and posted pic, we have some solid info on who GH-15 really is.
I won't use the name , but GH-15 is likely a disgruntled state level bodybuilder from Florida.
Despite this "outing" plenty of wannabees think the real GH-15 was never revealed and is still active.

GH-15 was an  entertaining BB forum phenomenon. It amazes me how some are taken in by this anonymous internet figure.
Some of his dedicated followers get very defensive if anyone dares to question the great GH-15.
The GH-15 legend may be the best example of how some absurd "fake news" can gain support.

Pope warns media over 'sin' of spreading fake news, smearing politicians

Media that focus on scandals and spread fake news to smear politicians risk becoming like people who have a morbid fascination with excrement, Pope Francis said in an interview published on Wednesday.

Francis told the Belgian Catholic weekly "Tertio" that spreading disinformation was "probably the greatest damage that the media can do" and using communications for this rather than to educate the public amounted to a sin.

Using precise psychological terms, he said scandal-mongering media risked falling prey to coprophilia, or arousal from excrement, and consumers of these media risked coprophagia, or eating excrement.

The Argentine-born pontiff excused himself for using such terms in order to get his point across while answering a question about the correct use of the media.

"I think the media have to be very clear, very transparent, and not fall into - no offence intended - the sickness of coprophilia, that is, always wanting to cover scandals, covering nasty things, even if they are true," he said.

"And since people have a tendency towards the sickness of coprophagia, a lot of damage can be done."

That section of the interview, all of which was distributed to reporters in an Italian translation of the interview in the pope's native Spanish, contained some of the most blunt language the pontiff has ever used about the media.

He also spoke of the danger of using the media to slander political rivals.

"The means of communication have their own temptations, they can be tempted by slander, and therefore used to slander people, to smear them, this above all in the world of politics," he said. "They can be used as means of defamation..."

"No-one has a right to do this. It is a sin and it is hurtful," he said.

He described disinformation as the greatest harm the media can do because "it directs opinion in only one direction and omits the other part of the truth," he said.

The pope's comments on disinformation followed widespread debate in the United States over whether fake news on the internet might have swayed voters toward Republican candidate Donald Trump.

I honestly think that Pope Francis was addressing hurtful gossip and baseless personal attacks in the modern age of social media.
He seems like a very decent, moral man that values good manners and polite behavior.
