Putin never got along with Obama.
When Medvedev was president Obama and he had those silicon valley joint initiatives, ate hamburgers together, posed in obamas limo, obama family toured his office in kremlin etc. So the "reset" really was brewing.
As soon as Putin came back it all deteriorated in a second.
Of course Putin was in shadows all the time but he clearly allowed Medvedev to pursue his policy of getting closer to Usa they had ever been.

Would be extremely interesting to know what really happened.

Coupled with the positioning of NATO troops in eastern europe in small increments over the last couple of years, the ICBM defense shield in Turkey and the Ukraine as well as the situation in Syria over the natural gas pipeline deal that the Russians and Syria were trying to make happen, and you can see how is the real aggressor here. If you look back to previous conflicts, this is the USA's modus operandi. Slander a foreign country and incite it to attack first, to the point that it looks as if they are the bad guys. Russia, despite it's recent resurgence to the world stage still does not have the military strength to defeat the USA. It would roll over Europe for sure, but once large amounts of US military men and materiel began pouring in it would be all over. Putin knows that and that's why he is denying every allegation the US brings against him.

This is how britain got the germans to attack poland in 1939- the brits courted the poles heavily in the 1930s and got them to begin attacking germans living in poland in great waves of violence just prior to the invasion in september 1939. There are numerous accounts of horrible atrocities commited against germans living in poland at the time, at time whole sale massacres that were covered up by the western governments and press to advance their agenda of another european war where the USA would come in and save the day with men money and materiel.
