The only one of these movies that I've seen was "Fences".  The movie itself wasn't great but Denzel Washington and Viola Davis fucking slayed. 

Acting at it's highest level in my opinion.  Hit me right in the feels.....and I'm white......and I pretty much can't stand black people anymore.

XFACTOR, Interesting that you enjoyed THE ARRIVAL, I seem to be the only person I know who didn't like it too very much for the following reasons ....

The extraterrestrials looked like Octopusses.

I sort of lost interest mid way through so I have no idea of the following .....

Was it explained how they ended up communicating? How was that accomplished? What were they here for? Why did they leave? Etc., Etc.

Saw it with family members in the biz who also though that it was a great film but somehow it went right over my head,

Just saw LA LA Land due to family involvement. (Dancers on he freeway). I'll give it a 6 on a scale of 1-10.

But those musical production scenes I'll give a 9 on a scale of 1-10.

How the hell did they shoot that freeway dance sequence.

And the footage taken on Mulholland Drive with the Valley in the background was an amazing shot if you know anything about photography and lighting.

I think that the whole idea of the script was to describe how tough it is to make it in La La Land and how one recalls it years later after not making it.

I'll be surprised if it gets an Academy Award unless for they have a category for the stuff I mentioned above.

Maybe for best photography if there is such a thing nowadays.

every year about this time, the people voting for the oscars get copies of the movies sent out to them... usually a dozen or so leak at the same time, this year only a few leaked out on the internet...


then we got hidden figures, some bullshit about 3 black women providing the maths (!) for nasa... in short - if it wasnt for these 3 black women nasa wouldnt be shit, or so were suppose to believe. starring 3 black women you never heard of.
