I think the bigger issue is countries that basically run on a lower moral threshold with no concern for the environment and human rights are impossible to compete with. To "let" them play in our sand box, they're going to have to pay a little more. But if they were to play basically by the same rules and follow the law, their prices would be more competitive I imagine.
There's a big incentive for American corporations to invest in other countries when a bribe is all it takes to get your way.
Ultimately, I see Trump as being one of the few presidents that will probably understand economics enough to make an informed decision.
