Lasik and bodybuilding
« on: April 02, 2017, 11:34:08 AM »
So who here has had this procedure and how did you like it? I've ended up repping 405 for 15 on my last set of benches last week instead of 185 because I misread the weight printed on the plates.

They'll probably have you not train for a week or so after to avoid pressure in your eyes. Also avoid anything that raises blood pressure (sex, etc..) I couldnt train for 2 weeks after laser surgery to repair a torn retina years ago. Different surgery, but still. (Was also supposed to lay flat on my back for 2 days as well. That wasn't gonna happen lol)

LOL!!!

I recall my friend and I watched an ABC "Exposé" on LASIK which was supposed to have the effect of making us all disgusted at the procedure.

However, I was not even remotely disgusted with the procedure.  Just the opposite - I was not disgusted at all.  What word denotes the opposite of being disgusted?

I got the procedure in December of 2004.  By December of 2013, my vision hadn't degraded even by 1%.  I was told I would probably need reading glasses by age 50 - if that.

I could literally see better than 20/20 the very minute I got off the operating table.  Sure, there were halos, and I was made to wear sunglasses at night, but I couldn't be happier!  To this day, my vision is around 20 over 13!

So a person with 20/20 vision needs to be 13 feet away from something to read what I can read from 20 feet away!  My vision is still amazing!

The coolest part is, you can smell your eyeballs burning while the procedure is taking place!  It's extremely important to look precisely where you are told to look though.  The doctor will tell you to do so.  That being said,

Some would be disgusted to find the scent of their own burning eyeballs lingering in the air during a six minute procedure, but not me.  I loved it!  Best $1,800 I ever spent!  I travelled from Thunder Bay to Toronto to get the procedure done!

That part freaks me the fuck out

I prefer procedures where I can count backwards from 100 and wake up with it all done

My buddy is exactly the same after 13 year 20/13. Thanks for the highlights I never would have noticed.  ;D

From what I was told things are light years ahead of what they were from years ago. I'm opting for the custom lasik blade free.

I remember watching a press conference years ago when they first started making breakthroughs in eye surgery, all the surgeons talking about people having the surgery were wearing glasses.
