When I heard the phone ringing at 1am, 10pm California time I knew something was up. I was honoured to be asked to induct GetBigs very own Ron Avidan into the Getbig Hall Of Fame.
The year was 1991 and I was at the Toronto Show when I bumped into a young nervous but goal orientated Ron Avidan fumbling with his Canon film camera. I struck up a conversation and we just "clicked."
We dropped our rolls of film off for one hour developing at Shoppers Drug Mart and headed down Younge for a bite to eat. I remember Ron talking about West Coast Mexican and how much he loved it when all of a sudden we came across Hernando's Hide Away. We walked down into basement to a step into Mexico. To make a long story short, hours after talking about our love of bodybuilding and several pitchers of Sangria we headed back to pick up our film. We shopped for hours on Church Street and had a blast...good times!
That young Ron Avidan confided in me how he wanted a career in the bodybuilding world and how he believed the "interwebs" would be a great outlet to bring lovers of bodybuilding together.
WELL YOU DID IT RON!!!! We are very proud of you and thank you for what you have given us. I could go on and on but this is about YOU!
