Awesome effort. Yes, big difference - particularly over long distance when that weight really becomes noticeable. You should jump straight back into a few more events now, especially with the mental confidence boost that must have given.

I'm contemplating the spartan ultra beast at Killington.   I've done the beast, but the ultra has time hacks that if you don't make, you have to stop.

Would be about 28-30 miles, all up and down the mountain.

I've done the beast, but ultra is another animal.

Need to decide soon though.

Genuine question ...with bodyweight/calisthenic type workouts, how do you increase resistance/intensity? I can imagine doing more reps, but if time is an issue, how do make the exercises more intense?

Interested because at my age I'm finding less and less motivation to go to the gym. I notice I'm imbalanced (the injuries and minor niggles I have) and have been thinking about going more in this bodyweight direction.

I only do arms now. 3 times a week or more. I want my arms bigger than my legs. Fuck balance proportion or aesthetics. I just want big guns hanging out of the t-shirt.

Maybe the way to increase resistance for bodyweight exercises is to slow down the movement.  ??? ???

Creative variations, make the leverage harder, try one arm versions, use a weighted vest, etc

Can help you more if you be more specific.
