Any good bodybuilder doesn't get caught up in any one excersise, or number.

I can use any type of means to achieve the same result....ultimately, you're looking to break down muscle by lifting weights...I don't care if the weights are freeweight, machine, cement, or two 5 gal. paint buckets with a broomstick through the middle...

Deadlifts , bench press, squats, etc...are all great exercises...if used correctly and smartly. Ironically, it's the pursuit of lifting MORE weight that has resulted in LESS people getting to their goals as a bodybuilder.

TRAIN SMARTER, NOT HARDER.

100 percent correct.

One could build the greatest physique using a Bowflex. it really doesn`t matter as long as it is working.

Free weights and dumbells can be overrated at times.

Good for them...and others don't. And some guys have never done either...the point is, there are no absolutes in BB.

Same thing can be said with food choices.  :)

Calories are absolute though.

I've seen more careers ruined with that one simple exercise, than all the others combined x 10.

If you are a competing bodybuilder, the LAST thing you should  be putting any stock into, is how much you can BP for 1 rep (which aint doing shit for your physique anyway) on a given day.

It's called risk-benefit ratio...easy choice IMO.

im sure they defend it with the usual talk of "as long as you practice good form it's safe!!!" like there's no safer excerises as good or better to pick from...

Very true.  Going into the gym with record breaking mind set will not help you become a better bodybuilder.
