Meh....70 years old, retired and a big grin on his face.  At least he obviously lived his life to the fullest from what it appears.  Can't live forever and honestly saying hello to heaven in a nice beach isn't too bad.  Beats the nursing home

From what I read elsewhere, his Thai wife filmed everything and she will get all his money....

Apparently several people die every year with such para activities over there

Killed by incompetent monkeys.  At least the women in Thailand know their jobs.  If he'd stuck to whoring like a sensible Thailand tourist he'd be alive and collecting crotch-biotics right now.

The water was too shallow where he fell.  Too bad it wasn't further out, he probably would still be alive.

From a great height, hitting the water would still kill/injure you...

It wasn't that high... not like jumping off a bridge.

That was about 5 stories...50 feet...and you better know that would be fatal unless you hit the water just right...it would be tricky for a motion picture stuntman.

Edit: I am not good at distance estimating.
That was more like 100ft.

Gotta kinda agree with you on that one.

Some activities are high risk enough without doing them in a 2nd or 3rd world country where safety practices iffy at best.  Unless you have specific travel insurance for something like that, you're F'd.  You're at the mercy of their 3rd world medical care, which usually requires cash before they'll do anything and your medical insurance isn't going to cover. Getting med-vac'd back stateside $$$yikes$$$ :o

I had a friend who had engaged an apartment for a month in Amsterdam.  He worked for Shell in the United States.  He had had a few years previously broken his leg and had orthopedic work done and had forgotten about it...he went to an acupuncturist and his ortho work became infected...
30 full days in a Dutch Catholic hospital with his work insurance covering it...because it happened in the Netherlands...and was a Shell employee.

Even so it was a greater than average pain in the ass afterword with what he had to do.

So many better things to be doing in Phuket other then parasailing. Fucking whores, getting massages, injecting gear, hitting the gym, eat some delicious thai food, go to Bengla Rd get some drinks, hit Patong beach, drink some coconut water, eat fresh mangos, go to a muay thai fight, or train muay thai, go to some temples, ride some elephants, fuck some locals, fuck some tourists, so many better activities. PIP.

The guy on the back is there to steer the Parasail by shifting his weight on the risers, and guides it back to the same spot on the beach when the ride ends.
