The rock star Kid Rock is rocking the Senate, all right. A new poll has him up 4 points against his Democratic opponent in the Michigan senate race following his announcement last week that he is serious about running for office.
Breitbart reports that a "Delphi Analytica poll puts support for the Trump-supporting Michigan-native entertainer at 30 percent, four points ahead of incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow. Forty-four percent of respondents declined to a pick a candidate. Among those who did state a preference, Kid Rock led 54-46 percent."
Kid Rock, birth name James Robert Richie, announced his intention to run in a series of social media posts last week in which he lambasted the press for second-guessing him. Take a look:
Kid Rock enthusiastically supported both Mitt Romney and Donald Trump for President and has been an outspoken Republican going back to the Bush years.
Not all Democrats are laughing. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is panicking and issued a dire warning to her party not to dismiss him.
“Well, maybe this is all a joke — but we all thought Donald Trump was joking when he rode down the escalator at Trump Tower and announced his campaign, too,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) told supporters in a fundraising email
The Michigan senate election won't be for another sixteen months, so Kid Rock has a long time to get serious and make Warren even more nervous.
