Phil talking about Classic Bodybuilding Division
« on: November 21, 2017, 01:07:36 AM »
Not the most personable guy..states this division is for weekend warriors ;D

Classic bodybuilders train pretty much the same as open weight bodybuilders they just don't have the genetics for more size or are unwilling to do what it takes to get to that size (drugs, force feeding etc)

LOL!!!

When Mark Anthony was winning his Men's Physique Mr. Olympia titles, he was consulting with Jay Cutler.  I took it that they were friends, and maybe Jay was a bit of a mentor to Mark.  Anyway, Jay said that Mark had to stop training like a bodybuilder.  He had to realize he was training for a different objective, and to adjust his training accordingly.

I was like "Huh?"  ???  How is MPD or the new CBD any different from open bodybuilding?  Lol, as said, aside from gear quantity, force feeding, etc, it's ultimately the same thing.

A bit off topic, but also regarding massive vs. moderate drug consumption:

I think of two French Canadian hosses - Jean-François Caron and Georges St-Pierre.  Both are amazing athletes, and I would never take that away from either of them.  But I think Georges' primary focus on health is going to give him a much better old age than JF will get - if JF even gets an old age at all.  In fact, when I asked a pro strongman friend how long he felt JF would live if he continues his current steroid protocols for much longer, he said pretty matter of factly "Probably 20 years.".  I thought, "Damn, is it worth it?"  On the other hand, Georges has taken 800 hits to the head during his UFC career, and possibly a large number during training as well.  Plus GSP has almost definitely juiced - I think he looked his most anabolic after his fight with Sean Sherk - but I think his focus on health is something that he will be proud of, once he reaches 40 and beyond.

Oh yeah, and since this post isn't long enough, I forgot to say - I fear for the health of pro bodybuilders!!

being hugely muscled has nothing to do with force feeding yourself huge amounts of food, excess calories get stored as fat, if you eat too many excess cals you will get very fat.

the secret to having a well developed body is the ability to process and utilise the food you put in, ie a good digestive system.

If the body is efficient in turning the foods you eat into muscle tissue then you will build a well muscled physique.

You could say its genetics..

Phil is JEALOUS therefore is trying hard to ignore the importance of Classic division,  Truth is that Most people find classic physique more appealing ...... sooner than later will be the ultimate physique.

From a promoter/sponsor of the " sport" perspective; Just put the top 6 BB open class competitors on cover of a magazine next to a magazine with classic physique top 6 guys and see which magazine its picked by both males and females.

it's not that hard...

lift and cardio, diet down to less than 10%bw, hop on quite a bit of drugs and you're almost there.

don't forget 1.5g protein/lb lbm /day

Bloofy Phil is just jealous that he's passed the point of no return from all the crap he's put into his body.  He wishes he could just look like a classic bodybuilder again.

Pretty much.  Although the drugs probably do allow more calories to factor in.  But training disparities?  No, not really.  Why would there be?

Why does Phil want to encourage the extremes of pro bodybuilding?  Maybe the more people that do it, the more he will feel that he made the right decision.  If Phil is smart, he will win two more, retiring close to the eve of his 40th birthday.  If he does that, he can slim down to maybe 220-lb at an increased body fat [but still lean], and just promote a supplement line for the next 10-20 years.  Sort of like what Dorian is doing.  The only problem I see is that due to Phil's naturally narrow clavicles [or big head - or more likely, both], he may not want to be seen small ever again.

But I guess it boils down to whether or not Phil wants to see an old age.  If he's smart, he will let go of some of the size, while still keeping some, and participate in the industry behind the scenes.  Phil is pretty smart, so I hope he makes the right choice regarding his health at the 40 year mark and beyond.
