I've said this before and I'll repeat it now. 

The United States is split right now and the two sides have much less in common with each other than the North and the South had during the Civil War.

Yes, but that doesn’t spell civil war. In the Civil War, we had loyalty to regional entities. We were split geographically. Other more current civil wars may be more mashed up (Iraq or Syria or Lebanon) but there are usually ethnic or religious splits going on.  On this issue, we are divided right down into individual families, same streets, same towns. Take the sanctuary city issue in California for example. Orange County bucking the trend. But there are hundreds of thousands in LA County who agree with Orange County and visa versa. How would the civil war play out there?  The younger generation may not be as polarized as our generation so the splits may tone down over time. Or should the parents go to war against their own children?

Few years? It's happening now. This tidal wave has gained momentum and may crash soon. I originally said 20-30 years at the beginning of this thread and now I'm not so sure we don't have a constitutional amendment by next presidential election. Fucking A man, economy is humming and I'm sitting pretty and these assholes are going to burn the whole thing to the ground by starting a civil war!

I think we are still a few years (or another mass shooting) away from a real push for gun control. Many powerful left wing groups are really now throwing their weight and money behind the anti-gun movement. They also appear to have the media and establishment on their side.

Also, the gun issue has to be seen as a racial issue too. Polls have shown that non-whites are far more supportive of gun control then whites are and once whites become a minority, gun control will be inevitable.

The split doesn't center around guns.  There are many differences and gun rights are one of them.  In simple terms the split is left vs right and the two sides couldn't be farther apart.

I agree it won’t happen. The VAST majority of Americans support gun ownership by private individuals. But, for many, that includes some restrictions on what type of weaponry and restrictions on some high risk individuals like past criminal record or even maybe mental illness.

So you are saying that the people that commit more vastly more violent crime (non-whites), and are much more likely to ignore laws (non-whites), are in favor of passing gun control laws so that their victims (whites), who are much more likely to obey gun laws (whites), will be less able to protect themselves during the robberies, rapes and and homicides that are perpetrated against them by, you guessed it (non-whites).  Hmmmm.

Never, guns are part of America and for better on worst here to stay, but I believe the following will happen.
1.) bullets will be harder to find get, and will start having serial numbers on them
2.) you will need to be 18 to buy a gun.
3.) limits on number on guns most people can own.
