Again we learn the hard way that the cops can't protect you and the the paramedics can't save you. Even if they want to help you (and sometimes they don't), first responders can't get there in time. Shootings and stabbings happen in seconds. You can die from an arterial bleed in
3 minutes. Police and paramedics response times are
15 minutes in a best case scenario. That math doesn't favor you.
I recommend everyone carry these every day and get trained on how to use them. Learn how to save your own life and the lives of the people around you.
