Very hot, decent restaurants, great place to shop and lay out by the pool..that's about it. I wouldn't waste a plane ticket out here IMO you want a vacation without leaving the country do it right go to south beach or Hawaii.

Seeing family out there too. It wouldn't be my first choice. Just deciding whether to go. Thanks for the info.

The thing about the Oxnard Flamingo Park is the fog.  I guess you'd call it steam technically since it comes from the geo-vents but it isn't hot.  The temperature is perfect.  You can't see more than a couple yards in it tho so be careful not to get lost or separated from your loved ones since it kind of absorbs sound too in the most peculiar way except for the flamingo talk which is really hypnotic.  I thought I was only down there exploring for a couple hours but when I came out my wife had remarried and gained 30 lbs.

Water is too cool in SoCal - that is why I like Miami, Hollywood, and Ft. Lauderdale beaches better.
