Ive always has a fascination with space and would jump at a chance to go if it every came up..but I would have to agree that I think we have reached our limit with how far we can go into outer space.. And there is no feasible planet we could live on so why keep spending billions on it..

Science tell us the sun will die at some point, and waaaay before that (1 billion years from now, more or less), it will become so hot that all life on earth will disappear.

Exactly.  So far we haven't found a single inhabitable planet.  And if we ever do, what are the odds this newly found planet's sun won't start to die within 100 years from it being successfully colonized, or if it'll have enough resources to sustain any significant population for long.  

Humans are not in control.  If God, or the universe if you are not theist, decide to get rid of humanity, and all living things for that matter, there's nothing we can do about it.

Don't make a statement that you cannot at least make a reasonable counter point too..we have already found a group of planets with a sun and mood around it but its so far away we cannot make the trip its so far away years away and even if we could get their we still don't know if it could contain life hell of a trip for nothing..

You apparently don't even understand the most rudimentary astronomy, so you might rather sit this one out.

Ironmag is correct:  the premise of this thread is incredibly ignorant -- real small child logic material.  There's nothing to "counter"; if someone's so daft to go along with the op, I'm not obligated to spoonfeed you the obvious reasons why the space program has already proven a tremendously productive endeavor for every person reading this.  But since I'm nice, I'll give you a little hint as to why the program is important:  it ain't about the destination, and all about the journey.

Forgive the irony, since a couple of you only think of all this in terms of going to other terrestrial worlds.

How is it a waste of time... This planet has a lifespan, our star/sun has a limited lifespan.. Humans must move to other solar system if wanting to keep alive.

Our nearest star Alpha Centauri could theoretically be reached in a human lifetime if we where to travel in 1/10 of the speed of light.

I do believe such vessels can be created by future human intelligence.
