In the grand scheme this isn't really a big deal but that's a tremendous lack of judgement on the part of the nurse here.  She knew--or should have known--how her employer would react.

No matter what one believes, it was clearly bad judgment on part of the nurse.

I am not saying I agree or disagree with the hospital's decisions.

What I am saying is that society has set up certain standards and modes of behaving.

If you don't adapt to those standards, whether I or you disagree with them, you may or may not suffer harsh consequences.

It's crazy to think that a specific way of behaving, even if you don't think it's anything bad, can get someone fired based on how a person or group subjectively feels.
