In my case, the cost of the original Pixel Phone and moving up to the Pixel 2 remained the same. Now if I wanted to move up from the Pixel 2 to the Pixel 3 is now about $150 more with very little change. Everything is pretty much the same (you get an addition "2" ppi with the Pixel 3 -- lol). The Pixel 3 will get you the Snapdragon 845 instead of the 835 but nobody will notice the difference.

The Snapdragon 845 will have a twenty percent better performance than the 835 and thirty percent better efficiency.  It's not a good idea to skimp on the chip.  It drives the performance of your phone and it is noticeable.

Real world performance is nil. The 835 Snapdragon is hardly skimping. The Pixel 2 was rated one of the best phones, some consider it the best, in 2018 and it is plenty snappy for me. And the camera is the best in the market today. I'm not going to spend an additional $800 for the Pixel 3 when it will do nothing to increase my cell phone experience. I'm saving that for the Pixel Slate tomorrow which will be a big step up from the Chromebook  I am using now.

I like to keep a phone a bit longer than a year.

A friend of mine inherited his mother's house, sold it, and put that money ($200,000) in Apple stock about 10 years ago .... and no one has seen him since.

Apple and Samsung make budget phones. Most phone don't need flagship devices. Samsung note is $1250, without an SD card. Flagships are going to cost.

I've heard of this. Has it been verified and proven? I wouldn't be surprised as that's what the Chinese do. If true it should be all over the news. American companies would love for that to get out.

Not a cell phone expert here but I have a $39 phone with CRICKET service at $42 a month. Am I getting ripped off?

I once used VERISON but decided that it was a crooked company over-charging its customers when they charged me $120  for the first month's service after I had signed up fot a $60/month program.

Why would anyone join Verizon when you can get similar service at half the price?

BTW .. This $39 cell phone and my Cricket $42/month plan have never failed me yet and last month they gave me a newer phone free.
