i think he probably did at as a bet or dare or something. the way he said co on king was too smooth...if he said co on by accident instead of king he would have hesitated realising he messed up the word before correcting himself. it all flowed out too fluently for it to have been a genuine mistake.

and it's not something new it's been done before. the mayor of alabama 1965(previous post) . another weather reporter did it in vegas in 2005. the dude below. it's like a running joke for racists....this latest dude just paid a high price for trying to crack a funny.

Big difference between Martin Luther and Martin Luther King.

Very true. But both took incredible stances and showed great courage and independent thought. Both were also seriously flawed human beings. The former more so than the latter.

if a tv broadcaster can not see or pronounce the difference between King and k oon  then they shouldn't be in the job

You've never stumbled over your own words once in your entire life? Of course you have. Should it cost you your livelihood? No. If he had stuttered on ANY other word that day no one would've noticed. So don't tell me 'but as a broadcaster it's his job to prounounce....' This is a sensitive world run amok.

Martin Luther King's real name was Michael King jr. I guess he thought Martin Luther sounded more imposing.

IIRC, his father had been influenced by Martin Luther's work so changed his name along with his son's.

Don't psychiatrists have a saying like "there is no such thing as an accident"..?   ;D
