Ain't that something, survives boxing in relatively good shape, and wind up being hit by a car.

RIP.

RIP.

Car or motorcycle crash seems a relatively common way for boxers to check out ie Carlos Monzon, Diego Corrales.. But they're usually the ones operating the vehicle.

But ,yeah, ironic death given Pernell's reputation as a boxer.
In his prime ,he could slip the punches of skilled contenders for 12 rounds, but couldn't avoid getting hit by 2 tons of metal, while crossing the road.

He was a boring defensive fighter. His low ratio of knockouts is a testament to that. I got sick of his fights going the distance to see him try and win his fights on points instead of fighting. No doubt a great boxer but all his fights were snore fests.

He could have died in a car like "Macho" Camacho.  RIP Whittaker.

It was great when he beat R. Mayweather in Norfolk, Virginia on March 28th, 1987 by unanimous decision.

A fantastic skilled boxer.
Got robbed big time when he fought and clearly beat De La Hoya.

He was lucky I wasn't in the zone that day.
