Should Dems use Debt Ceiling as bargaining chip
« on: July 19, 2019, 01:09:00 PM »
President Trumptard says no

Quote
“When I first came into office,” Trump said, “I asked about the debt ceiling. … And I said, I remember to Sen. Schumer and to Nancy Pelosi, ‘Would anybody ever use that to negotiate with?’ They said, ‘Absolutely not.’” The president added: “That’s a sacred element of our country. They can’t use the debt ceiling to negotiate.”

“I can’t imagine anybody ever even thinking of using the debt ceiling as a negotiating wedge,”

you know where this is going .....right Trumptards?

Anyone want to guess what Trumptard said about this back in 2012 when Obama was POTUS?

Anyone?

The primary driver is debt is the social programs. Neither party wants to deal with it because of the potential political ramifications.

So, any talk about debt is just a dog and pony show.

what is your definition of a "social program"

I wouldn't call healthcare a "social program" but that's just me

then again, maybe anything that benefits the country and the citizens could be defined as a "social program"

It's in the country's benefit to have a healthy population just like it benefits the country to have a strong military.

Anyway, not really the point of this thread but glad you're contributing

Any guess on Trumps advice on the debt ceiling in 2012?

Nice bait and switch conflating a mandatory government healthcare program with a healthy population.

Libs do the same thing with Education propping up underperforming public schools as though no one can learn anything unless it’s via the state.

That said,  it doesn’t really matter what you call them, Social Security and Medicare are the primary drivers of debt in the US budget. That’s not my opinion. It’s fact.

Trump in 2012

Quote
“the Republicans must use the debt ceiling as leverage to make a good deal!”

It's fucking bizarro that Trumpard can't imagine anyone ever thinking of using the debt ceiling as a negotiating wedge when only a few short years ago he himself advocated that very thing

It's like he has no fucking memory of the things he's said or in this case tweeted

I understand the debt ceiling and the need to raise it, but it should be a short term fix with some sort of austerity measures in place. If my line of credit were maxed out and I went to them to ask for more money, they’d want to see that I had a plan in place to not only pay it down/back, but that going forward I wasn’t going to get into this situation again. Debt can be good if you manage it, but what we do in this country is madness.

Makes total sense...because Green New Deal, forgiving all student loans and single payer healthcare for everyone including non-citizens shows the Dems have a concept of debt management.
