When will boomers retire?
« on: July 23, 2019, 11:12:43 AM »
I’ve worked with them since I’m fourteen years old, since ‘94, but it seems like I have for a century! When the hell are these people gonna leave?!

Please... retire already!

This is my third thread about them.

My boss is in his 70s. The company’s main initiative is implementing automation to its fullest.

Guy can’t even attach a file to an email.

This kind of shit will catch up with us.

They are currently taking out a new line of credit on their house to buy a newer Harley or Corvette. Going to be a while. A tidal wave of debt default is coming in the next 10 years. Nobody wants those McMansions, 5th wheel campers or boats either.

Every time I see a hot car or a top Harley it's a gray haired guy driving it. 30 year old's don't have that kind of disposable income to buy those toys unless they are living at home.

I plan on retiring early next year. I'm at the end of the Boomers, age 55.

-most will take out reverse mortgages and i will be ready  ;D

-boomers really haven't saved enough for retirement, most are living longer then they ever imagined and the cost of living is way up.

Not sure what size constitutes a "McMansion" but I sold my mortgage free large home to a couple in their 30's with a young son. They put 10% (borrowed from relatives) down and not sure what their payment was with the near 10k prop taxes.

Some of us boomers are first generation and began saving when we we got out first piggy banks. I built my first home in my 20's and by my second was mortgage free. No debt at all and no financial worries.

I'm seeing all the large homes (700k and up) in my town being snapped up quick by two income families with school age children. They on average have two car payments and large mortgages (some still carrying portions of their student loan debt).

Was not meant as a personal knock, but be assured you are in the top tier as far as fiscal responsibility goes. Many within 5-10 years of retirement age have no plan to downsize even though they know their earning power is winding down. Be it the idea of change, loss of status or whatever..  I have a recently retired parent who wants to stay in the house I grew up in....health is fading, can't mow the grass(big yard I do it), can't afford the taxes and upkeep(I do it), wants to buy a new car, vacation, no money set back, etc...it's frustrating and I know that most kids won't or can't do that stuff for their parents - so I see a big issue coming in the next 10 years.

Y’all are laughing now but by 2035, when all these fuckers start draining the funds out of SS fund, the government will pass the bill onto you. If you’re 45 and younger, you will be working until you’re 75 and the benefits you will get will be less than what you paid.

Welfare will be harder to pay than social security.  Retired people are constantly dying but young welfare recipients just keep reproducing and with millions from Mexico/Central America pouring in the numbers of poor just keep growing.  Most that are born into poverty/welfare never get out of it as it's cradle to grave.

Yeah, keep thinking that. Welfare is about 1.05 billion per year. Annual SS disbursements account for almost 150 billion and growing.

If you factor in all welfare programs it's way more than that.  Working people pay into the system for 40 years before taking any out.  Many welfare recipients never pay anything in and just take, take, take.

When they get good a ready to. Not too worry, the folks behind you will be asking the same question in years to come. Just hope you are lucky enough to be able to ignore them because you already retired, like me.

The young 20+ year old's jump out of the way when I walk by at work and try to say hi to them. They can barely function.
Cant look anyone in the eye.

Embarrassing.

Speaking of Boomer hate, you guys should watch this Black Pilled break down of the movie Easy Rider.  Does a nice job of showing how Boomers and everyone in Hollywood are all pieces of shit.
