Eddie Hall - 606 bench on whippy bar
« on: September 18, 2019, 11:18:52 AM »

Then bangs out some 200 lb. or so dumbbells, while one of todays "iron warriors" plays w/ his phone in the background.
You ever really look around a modern gym these days? Most people hardly training, just checking their phone. Comical.

Crazy strong, but a LONG way from 700.

Very impressive - albeit he better be strong at such an enormous weight and with such a square frame.

Well, he did say he's done 661, so he may well be good for 700 in time.

He's also a likable bloke.  Being able to crack jokes and smile while moving those weights is impressive in and of itself.

I very much like Eddie.

And at his strongest, he’s been within 40-50 pounds, yes.

What is a whippy bar?

It's just a bar that has more bounce and bend to it while doing the lift(s), rather than being super stiff. I'm guessing the bar he's using here is a standard cheaper gym bar, although perhaps some one might have brought over a OL bar, which is also whippy.

And just for fun, the king of the whippy bars -

Actually a cool video but 10 minutes too long for the average Getbiggers attention span.

Why would anyone get "excited" meeting a celebrity? Met a few in my time. Most are self centered as hell. On rare occasion they are down to earth people. However most are fawned over 24/7 and that makes them kinda strange.

Exactly. I never understood the appeal, if I was in public and someone pointed out a certain celebrity was over there I very much doubt I’d even expend the energy needed to turn my head and glance in their general direction

Well I can't stand Bill Maher....he turns my stomach.  I avoid his show and any interviews or whatever media he participates in.

But, if I was out and about and someone said, "Hey, that's Bill Maher over there!"  I would absolutely turn and look LOL.

Sly seems like a cool guy and Eddie and his wife also seem very down to earth.

Hope they stay unaffected by all the attention.

He is a celebrity in England and gets mobbed in some places apparently. When Brian Shaw, Robert Oberst and Nick Best visited with him they walked in London and many people recognized him. You never know some nut might want to make a name for himself by trying to kill him with a knife etc.

I saw this. Eddie seems to thrive on people telling him he can't do it. They told him he would never be a top strongman. Then they told him he would never deadlift 500 kg. He's had quite a few injuries along the way including a bicep and tricep tear. But I would not dismiss his ambitions. Perhaps he is crazy enough to aim for 750 lbs?!
