Ukraine to Review Investigations Into Firm Linked to Biden’s Son

The Burisma cases, closed in 2016, didn’t focus on Hunter Biden but rather tax irregularities at the company, as well as money-laundering and illegal-enrichment allegations related to the owner, Mykola Zlochevsky.

Ukraine’s top prosecutor, Ruslan Ryaboshapka, said the review of the Burisma probes is part of a wider audit of investigations that were closed or dismissed by his predecessors.

Mr. Zlochevsky was never charged and a lawyer for his company said at the time that the investigations were closed due to a lack of evidence, and that Mr. Zlochevsky, who he said cooperated in them, was exonerated from any allegations of wrongdoing.

If the investigation is reopened and the Ukraine is given the aid which was previously denied, it sure would seem suspicious.

Trump changes story on withholding Ukraine aid
The president confirmed that he froze the military assistance before reportedly pressing the country’s leader to investigate his political rival.

WASHINGTON — American diplomats who had pushed for the Trump administration to restore security funding to Ukraine were advised by the White House to play down the release of the money when it was finally approved, documents show.

Mr. Freden said the Ukrainian government had already been told that the funds were forthcoming. But he urged State Department employees not to announce the reversal.
