Very good video explaining the state of the art! This is the field I work in and it is farther ahead than this video shows!
That being said, the one thing that doesn't not change is the economics. Currently all the big money in semiconductors is being made selling microcomputers- chips capable of doing about a dozen tasks well, not like the microprocessor in a PC. The big equipment makers, like ASML and Applied Materials, are actually losing money year over year because no one needs these super state of the art machines. The old stuff works fine.
The next big wave in computing is the IOT (internet of things). That requires small, low power chips that do simple things like measuring blood pressure while being worn.
