Politics and Dating?

Curiosity question for those who are still dating or looking for a partner (I am not but am curious). Does politics play a huge role, or only one of many factors?

Specifically, if you are a man dating?
Do you feel disqualified by leftist women because you are a Trump supporter or political conservative?
Conversely, if you are a leftist male, do conservative women disqualify you?
Do you care about the politics of the women you date? Again, in a major way, or just one factor?
Has this issue created problems for you or no big deal?

Maybe this has been dealt with in other Boards, but any fresh perspectives would be appreciated.

My significant other is an old school Democrat who comes from a southern democratic family. I don’t think they realize how far to the left the party has gone and that at this point they’d fit in more with Republicans.

She didn’t like Hillary and doesn’t like the current slate of Democratic candidates. She just hates Trump more. We really don’t talk much about politics. I’m not going to change her and she’s not going to change me so what’s the point?

That said, I couldn’t see myself with a real leftist woman.

I have no idea. Why would I know this? I'm not surveying gay dudes. My spare time fully occupied with posting on Getbig. We could put the question out to other posters on Getbig, a lot of whom are gay....even though they are afraid to own up to it.

I was too young to date during the McCarthy era. Although the accused weren't communist except in the mind of their accuser. Many lives were ruined. This time is not considered a proud moment in U.S. history.

Just think in the last 5-10 years what has become "normal" and "acceptable". Communists, trans, polygamy, polyamory, get woke, etc.

I'm not that old, I can only imagine how an older conservative thinks of this world.
