I don't recall seeing this behavior from bands I listened to growing in my day (70's, 80's).

Rush, Maiden, Molly Hatchet, Foghat, Deep Purple, Sabbath (and so on).

They invented "gangsta Rap" and then say "Don't call us gangsta's".

Imagine Neil Peart sucker punching a dud and his kid?  ::)

Here is a rap battle for autistic Canadians.  Although I'm compelled to believe that neither one of these gentlemen have the proclivities towards violence that they claimed during their respective battles, due to the lack of open use of firearms at the end of their performances:
