I don't recall seeing this behavior from bands I listened to growing in my day (70's, 80's).

Rush, Maiden, Molly Hatchet, Foghat, Deep Purple, Sabbath (and so on).

They invented "gangsta Rap" and then say "Don't call us gangsta's".

Imagine Neil Peart sucker punching a dud and his kid?  ::)
