You are right they aren't my next door neighbors. I'm doing okay, but I am not that well off. They just happen to live in the same suburb as I do. And, we were talking about West linn, OR which is a fairly small city of about 30,000 residents.

Two houses away from me, there is a black family. They lived here before I did and I've been here 22 years. I think they are doing okay though, theirs is only one of a few places that has an in-ground swimming pool. Kinda funny when you think about it. Although African Americans are known for their athletic abilities, stereo-typically, swimming isn't generally one of them.

Our immediate neighborhood is fairly diverse. Across the street live two gay, married and retired policewomen and their 4 adopted kids. It is rare when a house goes on the market near me. Whenever one does, it sells very quickly because this is a highly desirable neighborhood. One interesting factoid is that we have a very high number of people who work from home.
