Author Topic: Help - stuck in a horizontal position instead of vertical (Read 4862 times)

Hi guys,I dont own a smart phone and never actually wanted one.........I know I`m an old fuck!!

Because of this I have a desktop computer which my wife has completely taken over due to her addiction to some ridiculous game she plays constantly.

OK my problem.............I bought a laptop a couple of months ago and thouroughly enjoy it but hated the built in mouse so I also bought a cordless mouse cuz that`s the type of mouse I am used to using.

Well tonight while on the laptop my hand inadverdantly ran across the built in mouse..............RESUL T: my screen is now stuck in a horizontal position instead of being upright/vertical as it should be.

I`ve tried tons of shit to reverse this but to no avail.

Can anyone advise my totally inept ass how to correct this situation?

PS - using my cordless mouse during this BS has been extremely difficult............... .it`s hard to alighn the pointer on any given object.

Control + Alt + Arrow keys

One of the arrow keys should orient it correctly.

Looks like you hit the Control, Alt and Arrow keys when you swiped the touch pad.

As suggested, doing something similar but changing the Arrow direction should correct the screen.

I shit you not - my mother called me Monday and I was in a meeting so I couldn’t answer. When I gave a break I checked voicemail because she very rarely calls when she knows I am speaking so I figured it was important.
This is EXACTLY what she was asking about. The way she described it - was not that clear and I am still a half retard with technology anyway. One of my IT guys helped - I am sure he knew his job was damn secure when he realized how little my dumb ass knew

Just ironic because I had never even heard of that happening.

Wes - I havent been able to read a ton lately but I hope that you are doing well my man. Cliche as fck - and I don’t really pray to a magic man - but I have definitely thought of you and I hope you are hanging tough

Thanks Wes for having this issue and Vince for the advice you provided him. It's never happened to my desktop, the laptop or the MS Surface which is basically a tablet, but now if it does, I will know how to fix it. All three systems are touch screen. My Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone gets temperamental and the screen either switches on its own or hangs up in one position until I talk nicely to it or stare it down.

I also have the benefit of two computer nerds living with me. My son-in-law and grandson are my personal tech people.

I have a parent who hits weird combinations of keys and locks things up weekly, haha. Never seen anything like it...

They never competed in a bodybuilding show though....so Wes still on top.

Simple just lay on your side or Flip the screen on it side.
I’ve had the same problem for the last 9yrs & that’s how I solved it.
