All schools in California and it seems all over the USA are now being shut down for 2 weeks.

For our kids here in Los Angeles, it is two weeks starting Monday, but we suspect at least 4 weeks (the fourth week being the 'official' Spring Break time for Passover/Easter week.

San Diego county schools districts will close schools on Monday. Most all Catholic schools will close on Monday. A few charter schools may still be open.  I live in Escondido (north county San Diego)

Been hearing one of the reasons for all the closing is the law suits that could be filed against school districts if no immediate prevention and action was not put forth, exposing children to a greater health risk.. This would be parents, legal guardians and very aggressive lawyers (Better Call Saul) setting up the filings. Insurance company's/health concerns could also get into the act of law suits against the school districts, county and even the state. . .This could become very messy over time, even with the schools shutting down during the virus thing.

Lots of districts here in Riverside County have closed schools.  Our district sent an email announcing the closure at the end of the school day yesterday.  They’ll start Easter break a week early.

I gave chicken pox to half of my third grade class.  No lawsuits back then.

That's probably because parents used to intentionally expose their kids to chicken pox while they are young because it is extremely rare to get them again and it is a much more serious virus to have when you are older. Most kids today get the varicella vaccine which gives them a 95% chance of not getting the chicken pox.

One can get shingles even if they've had chicken pox, both of which are caused by the same virus. I had a mild case of shingles a few years ago. It is not something that is fun to have. The nerve pain is unbearable and sometimes doesn't completely go away. Mine did.

Alot of students are going to get really good grades during this. Teachers at Universities are trying to do Online hybrid classes and shit last second, but they aren't prepared and you know they are going to give the students a lot of easy grades with the excuse that they can't attend lectures or study sessions on campus. No late work because the student can say I didn't know where to send it, this is all new and confusing to me bullshit. Corona is a blanket excuse. Online tests and assignments for classes that aren't geared for that and cheating will be rampant.
