The Italy case has really highlighted how out of touch with the world the americans are on this board.

I think not.  America is not remotely a turd-world country.  Italy and all of Europe shouldn't be either but given the canard that is the EU, the toilet of islime backed up and flooded the Civilized World with those filthy floaters.

This is well known.  To deny it is folly. I think it can be reversed by getting a plunger and repeated flushing.

The EU is nothing but flies.  Swat 'em.

Same here, if the true rates were known the mortality rate would be much lower, most countries only test as a last resort after ruling out flu and other things, many people who have been tested after coming into contact with a known carrier are actually non symptomatic that would indicate theres many people walking around with it, no doubt it seems to have a high mortality rate with those over 70, but they also have a high mortality rate with the common flu as stand alone group.

The response is overkill as the potential liability both financial and political is to high, Europe in particular is a basket case for this epidemic with their aging populations, coupled with national health systems that cannot cope with large numbers of sick people at one time, if they slow the infection rate they might have better capacity to manage the ill, it makes sense, but so would a cull on bats as they are well know to carry many potential deadly diseases for humans. But we can't do that in todays basket case of a  politically correct lefty world, or impose economic sanctions on China and the rest of Asia to raise their health standards so as to not repeat this disaster. It will happen again.

If you think it's bad in Europe wait a few weeks until the US reaches the same stage. With all their obese, druggies, prisons and homeless it will make the European situation look like a late summer picnic by the lake. I said it a week ago if the US didn't pull its finger out this will become Trumps Katrina, but in every state. I'm more certain of that now.

The test ain't gonna help you....We are beyond the testing phase...Probably we will ALL be exposed to this eventually and some will live, some will die...
Although I still don't think it's gonna be worse than the flu.

You say that we will ALL be exposed to the virus and then you say it won't be as bad as the flu. Not everybody is exposed to the flu so how could the flu be worse than virus you claim everyone will be exposed to?

We don't know how many are exposed to the flu because many show no symptoms. It's probably many more than we know, maybe most Americans. Corona is more contagious so I think almost all of us will eventually be exposed but think that mortality numbers will be lower than the 20,000 who died this season from the flu. Over 85% of people who contracted Corona showed no symptoms....We will see, all is conjecture at this point.
