« on: April 17, 2006, 01:31:08 PM »
I know its a simple sugar, but i have heard its actually ok as a sweetener while leaning out.  I like it in Oatmeal.  Anyone know?

The only time I have ever used it was in the pump up room before going on stage at a show.  I know that people hate splenda and artificial sweetners but they have always worked for me.  Personally I wouldn't mess with honey:)

If your not in contest prep it is a good sweetener to use before/ after your workout in oatmeal, on rice cakes....
Alot of BB's use it during the first weeks of starting prep as that limiting factor to take something away.

Honey has 17g of carb per tbsp, and a GI rating of 73 (in one study, honey outperforned malodextrin in the postworkout recovery phase).

Use it with caution and strategically only-- i.e., three days before a contest, or for an insulin boost right after a workout.

Honey is great but it is a sugar so be careful.  Artificial sweetners are great and no sugar.  Be careful of Splenda one of the side effects could be diarrhea in some people.

Isn't it supposed to have antioxidants.  I think i even heard it may be slightly thermogenic.
