BODYBUILDING IS OFFICIALLY DEAD !
I was on the phone to Masschuettes the other night talking to my old training partner Ray Harris and he echoed my sentiments:
"Hey Wee remember when we saw the photos from the Olympia when we were training out balls off, and how pyched up and energized we would be for months.................w ell these guys today dont psyche me up at all............they look like shit and everyone looks the same" !!
"If you cut off their heads they would all look like carbon copies of each other".
He hit the nail on the head, just think....Oliva,Nubret,Arnold,Coe,Zane,Padilla,Tinnerino,Robinson,Gable.Grant.Corney,Scott,Ferrigno, etc. etc. all had their own unique look to their physiques and could pose circles around todays fucking sad looking big gutted clowns.
Now I`m depressed !
Every generation says that about the guys that come after it.
Guys from the 50s said that about the guys of the 60s, who said the same about the 70s bodybuilders (the so-called Golden Age dudes). They, in turn, ripped the 80s bodybuilders. Many of them (along with the previous decades' competitors) complained about the 90s bodybuilders.
Then came the 2000s bodybuilders. And we had guys from the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, and 50s lament about them.
2010s competitors.....same deal. The late Leroy Colbert complained about them at will. Yet, he was just as critical about 60s and 70s bodybuilders (except Arnold, of course).
Whatever decade, in which you cut your teeth into bodybuilding and became a fan, will be your "Golden Age". Everyone before then will be twigs and will suck; everyone after that will be
"all drugs" and will
"all look the same". They
"won't train as hard" and they
"won't have the camaraderie that our guys had".
