I find surrogacy kinda gross, since who wants to say they were conceived and came into being as the result of a commercial exchange, but guess I'd be unwilling to call in the government to be The Big Prohibitor. Call me an asshole but there's just something off about someone raising a child which isn't their own, and something even more off about someone taking steps to procure a previously non-existing child so that they can remove it from those who made it and raise it themselves. Ugh.
I have to draw the line, however, at listing people on the birth certificate as parents when they have no biological relationship to the newborn. It's just not factual. What if the kid wants to someday find his biological father? What if a family (genetic) medical history becomes important at some point?
Do what you feel and all that jazz, but don't omit facts and don't present falsehoods as facts. None of those poop chute shooters belong on a child's first medical history document. None of them are the dad.
And yeah, a little bit this stinks like Brave New World shit. Now you have to specify biological parent since 'parent' doesn't necessarily mean biological parent anymore, etc.
