i dont know jack about diabetes, but she said her diabetes makes her catabolic, so harder to build muscle and get strength.
When she said that and was deadlifting 540 at 178lbs, and with the muscle she has, alarms went off that she is on the sauce. If the diabetes worked the other way and made her bigger and stronger, sure, maybe natural, but not if its the other way
It can swing both ways. If you go hypoglycemic frequently it can be catabolic and generally stressful on the body. But she's experienced and most likely monitors well.
Diabetes is a complicated disease where many bodily systems can be malfunctioning which isn't a plus for performance, but the insulin can be anabolic as well. Certain insulins like Lantus increase IGF-1 which is the hormone which GH works through. Neither GH nor IGF-1 are anything like androgens wrt performance enhancement but neither do they hurt. A diabetic can easily hit supraphysiological insulin levels at key times to boost performance and there's no way to hinder that type of manipulation.
One thing to keep in mind wrt powerlifting is that you can't
just look at numbers to determine if someone is on drugs and how many drugs.
For an example, take a look at this fella. Does he look like he has done a ton of steroids? He is as "strong" or stronger than Ed Coan in the deadlift. Or let's say his numbers are equal even though he doesn't have the same pure muscle strength, and obviously doesn't even have a third of the muscle. He doesn't even look like he lifts tbh.

And I'm known as one of those who disbelieves all natural claims
