Sorry this is happening in Pittsburgh. Have you considered moving? My stepdad was from Pittsburgh....as soon as he was an adult he left and never went back. I don't think he liked it there. Of course that was in the 1940's. Surely it has changed.
I did read where Pittsburg has a really high crime rate. So that can't be good. Hopefully you are far enough out that you aren't impacted by this. Even before all the fallout from BLM demonstrations and riots, Portland had a fairly high crime rate. Not sure why. Anyway, I'm 12 miles from downtown Portland and the crime rate where I live is really low.
it has high crime but it's not quite 3rd world like detroit, baltimore, or st.louis
35 crimes per 1000 residents, my sister likes living in the city even though she had her porch furniture stolen and now chains it to her porch, she also fears her car being stolen if she leaves it running outside her house, she even has a sign in front of her house that says "no matter where you are from we are happy to have you as our neighbors"
i live in a suburb that is a 45 minute drive from the city
anything an hour outside of pittsburgh, harrisburg, or philly is essentially farmland and wilderness like west virginia, in other words it's peaceful and safe
