No it's not that simple.  If we had an actual popular vote contest the campaigns would be run much differently.  They would spend all of their time and money California, Texas, New York, and Florida and pretty much ignore everywhere else. 

Go back and look at the 2016 election.  Trump probably never set foot in California.  Clinton's entire popular vote spread came from California.

No they wouldn't spend any time in states that didn't have enough of a population to affect the outcome of the election.

Still, if we had an actual popular vote contest, it really would be decided by a handful of states.  California, Florida, Texas, and New York have a population of over 100 million people. 

Overall, people almost always misuse the "[insert candidate] won the popular vote."  It's really a misnomer.

What??  Bruh.  The 2020 election wasn't much different than 2016:  a comparative small number of votes in a handful of states determined the outcome.  And it took two failed impeachments, literally more than 90 percent nonstop news coverage, and a global pandemic for Biden to achieve that.   

I don't have anything more to add about the "popular" vote.

That's a bad example on your part. Most people here won't know who she is without a pic.  I'm in the Mike Cox club as far as preference. But, I'm willing to venture out of that comfort zone.
