I ditched the bench for floor presses as well.
They ruined a great sport with this fucking nonsene.When I competed in the early to mid 70`s it was knee wraps, a belt, some chalk and desire.
There are guys hitting #s in sleeves/wraps and a belt that the guys in the 70s could only dream about

Zero shoulder pain now! I read that once the bench press became a staple in gyms years ago the incidence of shoulder injuries skyrocketed. Makes sense since bringing the elbow down below the plane of the torso hyperextends it.
