When the check engine light comes on it could be something as simple as the gas cap not being put on correctly, or a host of other non-serious issues. It could also mean there is something that needs immediate attention. The problem is, how do you know which it is if the sensors are overly sensitive. I have a late model car with nitrogen filled tires. The first year the sensor indicating that the air/nitrogen pressure was low came on a few times immediately after having the car serviced. It was just a faulty sensor which somehow fixed itself.

More likely you were charged a higher rate due to credit issue or if this is a mobile home then I would guess those rates are higher than mortgage rates (which are ~ 3.5 to 4% right now)
