Dorian's bio
« on: August 09, 2022, 06:35:13 PM »
I just finished reading this bio.  Started on it while on the plane to Korea and it was a really interesting read.  He seemed to be quite honest about everything.  From his roid use, GH use, etc...  (he did not give actual cycle doses), to how he viewed and interacted with people he came in contact with, his new age pot lifestyle now, etc..

A few things off the top of my head :

- he said that his biggest competitor that he feared the most was Flex Wheeler.
- that Kevin Levrone was the one competitor that had the best chance of ever beating him but because he kept losing vast amount of size in the off season, he never really reached his potential.  If Kevin had trained year around, he would have beaten Dorian easily.  Since he didn't, Flex was the one that he worried about the most.
- he said he saw Kevin's real potential when he invited him to come out and train with him a while.  He said that after leaving, Kevin used his principles and turned up at the next Mr O with a drastically improved back and Dorian regretted training him and revealing so much, but then Kevin did his usual shrinking act and Dorian wasn't worried anymore
- he never worried about bigger guys like Fux, Dillett, Nasser, etc..
- even after winning his 2nd Mr O, he was still broke and living week to week basically.
- he thought he had thrown away his chance to become Mr. O when he ripped into Weider for running an ad using a photo of his injured arm with all the bruising as a BEFORE photo and a photo of his normal arm in an AFTER photo to try to sell Weider's recovery supplement
- the famous bust of Weider that is Robby's torso is not the only photoshopped/fake thing that Weider has attempted to pass off.
- he got along with everyone except Labrada for a while because Labrada was whining to Weider and judges that a Mr. O should not have tats.
- he retired just in time because when Ronnie filled out and surprised everyone, he knew that Ronnie was a multi Mr O in the making

Now a question.  One thing he talked about post BBing, was he tried a company called MuscleGenes (which is renamed fitnessgenes now I believe) that took a saliva sample from people and could test for hundreds of markers and genetic points and determine what kind of training was best for that person.  He said they nailed his training type for him.  Short intense bursts, with lots of rest.  Has anyone on here ever used them or heard anything about them?

“No” on the saliva test question

Dorian definitely had 1-2 year time period where he did not get along with Shawn Ray.

He actually spoke well of Shawn in the book.

I could see that. Dorian seems more analytical, driven by logic. Even if there was some personal differences Dorian seems like the type that could seperate that and recognize that Ray was a good bodybuilder and well spoken representative of the sport.

Shawn was never a threat to him either.
