He also used steroids, and could be the poster child for them, as he: gained a lot of sized after reaching MLB, had power completely out of contrast for his performance in the minors and early MLB with the twins, had multiple roid rage incidents on the field and off, including bursting into his manager's press conference to complain about a scorer's decision, had to have a meeting with his manager and umpires to control temper on field, had a mysterious hospitalization, put out qualifiers that he might have taken steroids in a milkshake, had admitted being tested more than others (which only happens if you fail a test), existed in a steroid clubhouse that actually had a doctor present proper use and had multiple confirmed users (Crawford, Alexander, MANNY), put up the best 40 year old season outside of.....Barry Bonds.....and FAILED A DRUG TEST and was on the list of 103.
This is the issue. Despite all this, the press is bending over backwards to justify him being a first ballot HoF, while vilifying much better players like Bonds, Clemens, and ARod.
It's a clown world at this point. I don't care about Ortiz' use, as everyone was using, but to coddle him and vilify others because you don't like them is just plain ridiculous.
